The very basic necessity in Gisborne, is special cycle and pedestrian routes in and out of town. Such roads as Stout /street and Aberdeen Road could be cycle and pedestrian priority routes, using bollards to divide routes for cars access only from side streets to each section, or speed bumps on one way passage for cars along the whole length inwards on one and outwards on the other for vehicles.
Similar routes need to be chosen for the other Kaiti side of the city, we have Iranui, and Rutene with several feeder streets, that would permit dectioning for vehicles and direct access for cycles and pedesrians.
This would not inconvenience vehicle access to domestic property off remaining main roads.
